Britney Spears has been taken to a Los Angeles hospital by ambulance to be put under psychiatric care for the second time this month.

She was taken to UCLA Medical Centre around 1.30am after a carefully staged intervention, with the police calling ahead to waiting medics with the message: "The package is on its way."

Britney was sectioned under code "5150" - the emergency services' way of indicating she is considered a danger to herself and others.

When Britney heard she was being taken into care, she said: "Is something wrong?" and insiders say she was too "out of it" to resist.

But she then reportedly made herself a hot chocolate while she waited for the paramedics to arrive. She was strapped to a hospital trolley before being carried into the ambulance.

It had been feared early this morning that Britney had attempted suicide, but sources have since denied she attempted suicide.

It appears the operation had been in planning for a number of days and vehicles were blocked from following the same route as the emergency services convoy, which included 30 police cars and several police motorbikes.

Britney's mother, Lynne, who reunited with her daughter earlier this week after months of estrangement, best friend Alli Sims and “manager” Sam Lutfi were all at the property when police and ambulance arrived.

The hospitalisation came after Britney's psychiatrist visited the star and recommended she be temporarily committed on the basis she poses a danger to herself and to others, according to reports.

Britney, who is being treated for bipolar disorder, had not slept in days was seen driving blindly around in a new Mercedes saloon two days before the intervention.

At one point, she became lost and asked a photographer for directions using an English accent.

A US report claimed she had been on a three-day binge using the deadly addictive drug crystal meth in the time leading up to the stand-off over her children. "Britney was high on meth and naked all day before," a source said.

"Even when losing her boys became an issue, she didn't stop. After the boys were taken from her, Britney went on another drug binge, using crystal meth almost every day for an entire week."

Her psychiatrist is said to have ruled she should be treated under a 5150 hold, the same order that led to her being forcibly taken from her house on a stretcher earlier this month after a three-hour stand-off with police during which she locked herself in the bathroom with one of her sons.

Her visitation rights were stripped following the incident.

Under California law, a 5150 order allows a patient to be hospitalised against their will for up to 72 hours. Her psychiatrist can, however, apply to a court for her to be held for an additional 14 days.

Lynne, who followed the convoy to hospital in her car along with Britney's father Jamie and boyfriend Adnan Ghalib, flew into Los Angeles from her home in Louisiana on Monday, where she reunited with her daughter after an ongoing rift.

The pair have been estranged since last summer, when they reportedly fell out over Britney's children.

Sources say Britney went to hospital willingly, but earlier this month, she allegedly threatened to commit suicide if she is forced into psychiatric care.

She reportedly told a friend: "They're not sending me to the nut house! No one can make me go - and I'm not going.

"I'll kill myself before I let them lock me up again. So tell Mama and Daddy I said so. Oh my God, it's over for me."

Britney has been in a highly public downward spiral since filing for divorce from Federline in November 2006.

Her bizarre antics include shaving her head bald, attacking a car with an umbrella and bringing along a paparazzo pal on trips to a courthouse in her child custody case.

* The greenhouse are of the lobby, lovely flower arrangements very fresh, good tea and coffee service, bar was cozy.
* Head Concierge purposefully sent us on a "wild goose chase giving an incorrect, but similar address to where we were really intended, cost $50 extra.

“I am sure the Saudi princes staying there were treated well, but we definitely detected a different level of treatment for us. Despite doorknob sign saying do not disturb, cleaning staff barged into our rooms and were angry with my 12 year old about needing to clean the room soon, even after they had awakened her from jet lag sleep. Honestly for $600 retail and $343 wholesale the room was small. it was quiet. and the bathroom was recently redone. The floor maid "escorted us down the hallway " each time we came and went, for unknown reasons, I suspect they were concerned about the mountains of luggage, with Saudi addresses which remained piled along the hallway outside the "princesses" rooms for three days.”

“This hotel was amazing, intercontinental has set the bar high for great chain hotels with the Le Grand. The location is convenient, one block to the metro, opera house, restaurants and exclusive shops all around. The room service was excellent, with multiple services including turn down, mini bar restocking, even slippers, perfume, robes to make your stay just that much better. The hotel has a business center and restaurants that are the place to be, cafe de la paix was always bustling with people. The rooms are very elegant, obviously they went all out with their renovation. Shower is nice, however it can easily spray to the floor with the shower head positioning and door style. The Conceierge was OK, not what i expected for a hotel of that caliber, didn't really get much there, but if you know what you want to do they will help direct you and tell you how to save money. One more thing, the hotel defintely caters to English speakers, with all main interactions available in English, including all of the room services and food menus. The hotel has 24 hour room service and a nice mini bar, just be aware that it is not cheap. Room service includes the staff setting up a table in your room with all the fixings, working to make it just like home. The room service breakfast is very customizable and has a lot of food, which aligns with the price tag. There is also a buffet, but we didn't try that out. All in all, experience in Paris and this hotel was awesome. I'd recommend it to my friends and family, and loyaly stay at an Intercontinental again. Enjoy!”

However, you need to be aware when you booking hotel in Paris, because you don't know what you're getting for your money. I paid $275 for night and my room was the size of shoebox. So tiny, I felt like I was invited to rich family member's house and let me sleep in their beautiful house in the attic. Our room was in the top floor of the hotel. Generally, in Paris as higher the floor, the smaller size of the rooms. I wish I knew that before or asked questions before booking.”

What is P3P?

Why is P3P useful?

Lead singer Ali Campbell has left the pop-reggae band UB40, which he fronted for nearly 30 years, saying management difficulties have become "intolerable."

The British band is known for hits such as Red, Red Wine and Rat in My Kitchen as well as cover versions of I Got You, Babe and (I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You.

"I have been deeply unhappy with administrative practices and with many decisions that have been made in recent years," Campbell said in a statement on his website.

"I have an ongoing investigation into the handling of my business affairs in relation to UB40. Suffice to say, I felt I had no other option but to resign from my band."

His seven bandmates are disputing the cause of the split, saying Campbell quit to go solo.

Campbell, 48, said he has been recording solo for 13 years and intended to continue balancing his UB40 and solo commitments until he experienced the unspecified "management difficulties."

Members of UB40, named for a British unemployment form, met in an unemployment line in Birmingham, U.K., in 1978.

Campbell said he still considers fellow bandmates "brothers" and wishes them success as they continue as a band.

UB40 has upcoming concerts booked in Australia, New Zealand and Uganda.

A Möbius transformation is a bijective conformal map of the extended complex plane (i.e. the complex plane augmented by the point at infinity):



The set of all Möbius transformations forms a group under composition called the Möbius group.

Certain subgroups of the Möbius group form the automorphism groups of the other simply-connected Riemann surfaces (the complex plane and the hyperbolic plane). As such, Möbius transformations play an important role in the theory of Riemann surfaces. The fundamental group of every Riemann surface is a discrete subgroup of the Möbius group (see Fuchsian group and Kleinian group). Möbius transformations are also closely related to isometries of hyperbolic 3-manifolds.

A particularly important subgroup of the Möbius group is the modular group; it is central to the theory of many fractals, modular forms, elliptic curves and Pellian equations.

In physics, the identity component of the Lorentz group acts on the celestial sphere the same way that the Möbius group acts on the Riemann sphere. In fact, these two groups are isomorphic. An observer who accelerates to relativistic velocities will see the pattern of constellations as seen near the Earth continuously transform according to infinitesimal Möbius transformations. This observation is often taken as the starting point of twistor theory.

The new Ferrari F2008

Ferrari has unveiled its latest Formula 1 challenger, becoming the first team to reveal its 2008 car. The Ferrari is heavier than in 2007 because of the rule changes but Ferrari reckons that the new car will be just as competitive with all new aerodynamics, although the bodywork will probably be quite different by the time the teams head off to Australia in March. With aerodynamics becoming increasingly important as other areas of development are restricted there has been much emphasis placed on this.

The design, codenamed internally as the 659, represents the Scuderia's interpretation of the regulations in force in 2008. A major new element of these is the introduction of a new electronic system to be used by all teams, known as SECU (Standard Electronic Control Unit) and produced by MES (McLaren Electronic Systems.) It consists of a single control unit and a software system, the development of which ends as the season begins. Other areas affected by rule changes are: gearbox, which must be used for four consecutive events; safety, with the introduction of higher side protection around the driver's helmet; materials, with a limit to the type of composites that can be used. As a result of these rules, there has been an increase in the weight of the car. All aerodynamic surfaces have been completely revised, however the current version will be replaced by a completely different configuration in time for the first race. In fact, an intensive and all encompassing development programme is planned to run throughout the season. The monococque has been further cut away under the driver's legs and the side pods and engine cover are more tapered. The suspension system has been reworked and developed around the new aerodynamics.

The wheelbase and weight distribution have been adapted to meet the challenge of the new regulations and on the basis of lessons learned last year in terms of the performance of the Bridgestone tyres. Changes to the technical and sporting regulations in terms of electronics, alongside the introduction of the SECU, have led to the removal of a host of a driver aids, such as traction control and engine breaking and the electronically assisted starting system, and also mean that management of the differential, engine and gearchange are much simpler. The gearbox casing is produced in carbon, while the transmission continues to be mounted longitudinally. For the second consecutive year the gearchange is fitted with a quick shift system, adapted to the SECU software and further speeded up. In dealing with the reliability aspect of the new regulations, Shell has played a key role in defining the lubricants for the gearbox. The braking system has been updated with new callipers and innovative concepts regarding cooling.

The 056 engine is mounted longitudinally and continues as a load bearing element. Its basic structure remains unchanged compared to the unit homologated at the start of last season, while its auxiliary systems, air and fuel intakes have been further developed. The technical regulations also call for the use of fuel corresponding to European Union norms, with a content of components derived from biological sources equal to 5.75%.

As usual, during the design and development stages of the entire car, Ferrari's technical partners played an important role. Worthy of note is the contribution of the Fiat Research Centre, especially in providing simulation systems and Brembo for its work in developing the braking system. As is now traditional, a great deal of attention was paid to the performance and optimising of the materials used at the design stage and through quality control, striving to maximise performance levels while attaining the highest possible safety standards.

'G.O.R.A.�yı çekerken Arif�in, tıpkı Turist Ömer gibi dolaşma potansiyeli olduğunu fark ettim. Evet 'AROG�ta Arif taş devrine gidiyor. Ben tarihin o bölümüne pek inanmıyorum. Ateş bulunmuştur, sonra avcılık ve toplayıcılık dönemi başlamıştır falan diye anlatırlar ya okullarda. Bu anlatım bana komik geliyor. Bunun için de iyi bir malzeme olacağına inanıyorum. Mesela 'GORA�da bir Türk uzaya gitse ne yapar gibi algılandı, oysa ben orada uzaylılar tarafından kaçırılan bir insanın durumunu anlatmaya çalıştım. Sickle cell 'causes daily pain'

Daily pain from sickle cell disease may be far more common - and severe - than previously thought, research suggests.

Virginia Commonwealth University researchers asked 232 sickle cell patients to keep diaries.

The Annals of Internal Medicine study found many experienced daily pain - but many tried to cope with it at home, rather than seeking medical help.

Previous research has assumed that, if patients did not seek help, then they were not in pain.

Sickle cell disease is caused by a mutation in a red blood cell gene that changes smooth, round blood cells into a sickle-shaped or C-shaped cells that are stiff and sticky and tend to clot in blood vessels.

When they get stuck in small blood vessels, the sickle cells block blood flow to the limbs and organs and can cause pain, serious infections, and organ damage, especially in the lungs, kidneys, spleen and brain.

Pain can be both acute - in which case it is known as a crisis - and long-lasting.

In the current study, over half of the sickle cell disease patients completing up to six months of pain diaries reported having pain on a majority of days. Almost one-third had pain nearly every day.

Daily phenomenon

Researcher Dr Wally Smith said: "The major finding of our study was that pain in sickle cell disease is a daily phenomenon and that patients are at home mostly struggling with their pain rather than coming into the hospital or emergency department.

"I believe that this study could change the way people view the pain of the disease.

"We need more drugs to prevent the underlying processes that cause pain in this disease.

"And we need better treatments to reduce the chronic pain and suffering that these patients go through."

Dr Alison Streetly, a medical advisor to the Sickle Cell Society and director of the NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening Programme, welcomed the study, and hoped it would help to raise awareness.

She said: "There is a tendency to underestimate the serious impact sickle cell can have on people's lives.

"Many people with the condition are living with pain on a regular basis, but managing it on their own.

"It is important that the NHS takes it seriously."

Dr Phil Darbyshire, a consultant paediatric haematologist at Birmingham's Children's Hospital, said the findings echoed anecdotal evidence from patients.

However, he said there were big differences between the US and UK health systems, and so extrapolating from the American experience was not necessarily appropriate.

"In general terms this study adds weight to efforts we are all making to improve health provision for people with sickle cell disease and suggests that much of these efforts should go to supporting people in their own homes trying to control symptoms better to allow people to work and as far as possible lead normal lives."
